The heat island effect is turning the protected industrial heritage area of Strijp-S, the former headquarters of Philips in Eindhoven, into a hothouse. In order to transform the neighbourhood into vertical gardens, I propose to recycle the existing high-rises, and to partner up with social housing corporations. They own 62 percent of residential houses in Strijp-S, which is itself largely a residential area.
